Accessibility Statement

CareNiva Express is committed to making healthcare accessible to everyone — including people with disabilities.

1. Our Commitment

CareNiva Express (“CareNiva,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to help ensure our platform is usable by people of all abilities.

We believe that access to quality healthcare should not be limited by disability, and we work to make our telehealth directory, scheduling, and account features usable with assistive technologies.

2. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The CareNiva Express website strives to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are working toward full conformance and regularly review our site to identify and remediate accessibility issues.

Current status: Partially conformant. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to address these areas.

3. Accessibility Features on Our Platform

We have taken the following steps to make CareNiva Express accessible:

  • Semantic HTML — proper use of headings, landmarks, and labels for screen reader navigation.
  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (menus, forms, buttons, dropdowns) can be reached and operated with a keyboard.
  • Descriptive labels — form fields, buttons, and links have clear, descriptive labels.
  • Alt text for images — meaningful alternative text is provided for images.
  • Color contrast — we use color combinations that meet WCAG AA contrast ratios for text and interactive elements.
  • Responsive design — the site adapts to a wide range of devices, screen sizes, and zoom levels up to 200%.
  • Focus indicators — visible focus states on interactive elements so keyboard users can see what’s selected.
  • Accessible forms — clear labels, error messaging, and validation that works with screen readers.

4. Compatible Assistive Technologies

CareNiva Express is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and browsers:

  • Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Voice recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest two major versions)

If you use an older browser or assistive technology not listed above, some features may not work as expected. We recommend using up-to-date software for the best experience.

5. Known Limitations

Despite our efforts to make CareNiva Express accessible, there may be some limitations. Known issues we are actively working on include:

  • Third-party content — some embedded tools (e.g., video consultation platforms, payment processors, map embeds) are provided by third-party vendors and may not fully meet our accessibility standards.
  • Provider-generated content — content supplied by individual providers (photos, bios, FAQs) may not always include full accessibility metadata. We encourage providers to follow accessibility best practices and provide tools to help them do so.
  • Legacy pages — some older pages may not yet be fully remediated. These are being addressed as we update the site.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our site, please report it to us (see Section 7) and we will work to resolve it as quickly as possible.

6. Telehealth Visit Accessibility

Telehealth video visits are delivered via our provider platform. We work with our video technology providers to ensure:

  • Visit interfaces support keyboard navigation and screen readers where possible.
  • Live captioning is available on request for video visits — contact the provider or our support team in advance.
  • Audio-only visits are available as an alternative when video is not accessible to you.
  • Interpreters (ASL, spoken language) can be arranged with the provider — let us or your provider know at least 24 hours in advance.

7. Feedback & How to Report Accessibility Issues

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of CareNiva Express. If you encounter accessibility barriers, have suggestions, or need content in an alternative format, please contact us:

When reporting an issue, please include:

  • The web address (URL) where you experienced the problem
  • A description of the issue
  • The device, browser, and assistive technology you were using (if applicable)

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 2 business days and resolve issues as quickly as reasonably possible.

8. Assessment & Continuous Improvement

CareNiva Express regularly assesses accessibility through:

  • Automated accessibility testing tools during development
  • Manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers
  • Feedback from users with disabilities
  • Periodic third-party accessibility audits

We train our team on accessibility best practices and integrate accessibility into our design and development processes from the start — not as an afterthought.

9. Legal and Regulatory

We aim to comply with applicable laws and regulations relating to accessibility, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, where applicable. This statement reflects our commitment and our current accessibility status.

If you believe you have been discriminated against on the basis of disability in accessing CareNiva Express, you may contact us directly to request resolution. You may also file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice at https://www.ada.gov/filing_complaint.htm.

Independent Providers

The healthcare providers listed on CareNiva Express are independent professionals who run their own practices. Their own clinics, websites, and practice tools may have their own accessibility practices. CareNiva’s commitment in this statement applies to the CareNiva Express platform itself.
